The relaxed and friendly Oaklands House offers air-conditioned en suite bedrooms, a continental buffet breakfast and a heated swimming pool. There is a licensed bar, free Wi-Fi and free parking. Oaklands is situated on one of the many Isle of Wight cycle routes, and secure bike and golf club storage is available. There are 3 village pubs within easy walking distance, and The Yarbridge Inn is just across the road. Access to the scenic Brading Downs is a short (uphill) walk away. Fishing on the River Yar is less than 100 metres away. All rooms at Oaklands House feature an LCD TV with DVD player, an iPod dock and a silent refrigerator. The heated swimming pool is open most days until dusk, from June to September. Rare red squirrels come to the garden to feed, so no guest pets are allowed. Oaklands has been awarded 5 stars by IW Council for food hygiene standards, and has Gold status from Green Island Tourism. Please note that Oaklands is adults only (over 18s), and is non-smoking. Please note that there is a minimum stay of 2 nights.

Brading Down is within easy walking distance and has stunning views across Sandown Bay towards Luccombe and over the Solent towards Hampshire. There are footpaths and bridleways (Nunwell Trail), picnic areas and parking. The area is great for mountain biking. Nearby Brading Roman Villa has some of the best mosaic floors in the UK. The Dolls Museum, Old Town Hall, Stocks & Whipping Post and St. Marys Church are all in Brading High Street. The Isle of Wight Dinosaur Museum and the Isle of Wight Zoo, also known as the I.O.W Tiger and Lemur sanctuary, are both situated opposite the beach at Yaverland.
